Welsh Microsoft Guy

About

Who I am

A Welsh Technology leader, architect, and consultant, living in England . I spend my time thinking about how organisations use cloud technology, how engineering teams grow, and how the decisions made at the intersection of technology and leadership shape what gets built.

I work primarily in the Microsoft ecosystem - Azure, Microsoft 365, and the broader platform - helping teams navigate architecture decisions, build capability, and translate technical complexity into tangible outcomes.

What I do

I consult with engineering teams and technology leaders on cloud architecture, platform strategy, and capability development. That means working through the hard problems: what to build versus buy, how to scale platforms without scaling complexity, and how to make architectural decisions that age well.

I also write and speak - because the ideas worth having are the ones worth sharing.

Why this site exists

This is a home for the ideas, insights, and conversations I find worth documenting. Some of it is technical, some is about leadership and how organisations work and some are just interesting things I come across. Though typically I find much of what I write about often sits at the intersection of those things which is where the interesting problems live!

The podcast, Tell Your Story, is where I talk to people about defining moments in their lives. My blog is where I work through ideas in long form. The knowledge graph is a personal experiment in surfacing the connectionsbetween these, as is the NWLweb enabled search capability.

Perspective

Good technology decisions are made by people who understand both the technical and the human context. Too often those are treated as separate concerns. I try to hold them together.
